Funny Investment

I read Colayco's Wealth Within Your Reach book last week. The book tells you that no matter how hard you work, you can never be wealthy. What makes one wealthy is letting money roll without working. The book also advises one to invest money where it can earn an interest higher than the inflation rate so your money do not lose purchasing power. The best investments for "safe" people like myself, who like to cross the streets using the overpass in fear of being run over, would be investing in risk-free treasury bills and time deposits. 

Which brought me back to a time deposit I made Nov 2009 in Banco De Oro. I was not really after the interest back then, I was just after having money safe in a bank in case an emergency arises.

Today I went to BDO to inquire about my time deposit. The teller really took the time to write the updated amounts, filled up almost 12 lines at the back of the certificate of deposit. She handed it to me. And guess how much my money earned after two years? Guess?

That is the funniest investment ever! I let my money sleep in a bank for two years and I earned P200? I said I wasn't after the interest. But P200? Seriously? Hahahaha!

So lesson learned, shop around for the best interest rates. I thank the Colayco book because now I can invest smarter. Nerds rule!
